A man was taken to hospital after being rescued from the River Thames in Woolwich.
Police confirmed that they were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) this afternoon at 1.24pm to assist with rescuing a man in the river.
A spokeswoman for LAS said: "We were called today at 1.18pm to reports of an incident at New Ferry Approach, Woolwich.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team.
“We treated a male at the scene and took him to a hospital in south London.”
The Woolwich ferry was suspended while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
