Star Wars actor John Boyega surprised rail passengers when he took over the tannoy for a cheeky announcement aboard a Southeastern train.

Video on social media shows the moment the Peckham-born actor joined his sister Blessing from the control room of the service to Orpington on Friday.

His older sister giggles as 24-year-old Boyega introduces himself to unsuspecting commuters while they arrive in Penge East.

He explained the video by saying he had decided to assist his sister and her “amazing colleagues” at Southeastern with some “informative announcements”.

Boyega posted: “Hope everyone on the 2.40 train to Orpington had fun listening to me talk rubbish.”

A far cry from Boyega’s acting role in The Force Awakens, the international star looks to be enjoying himself as he tried his hand on the railway.

He even shared a joke with passengers, revealing that his uncle struggles to pronounce Penge East and instead calls it ‘Pen-gey’.

And his efforts seem to have cheered up at least one commuter, who posted: “You put a smile on a lot of faces on the train”.

Once they arrived at Orpington Boyega signed autographs to the delight of passengers.

One of the commuters on board told News Shopper: "All through the journey John made about 15 announcements relaying stories about all the stops on the way.

"He told passengers that he would try to make sure that he use the force to make the train go at light speed.

"At one point, towards the end of the journey, he even started singing to all the passengers."
