A man has been summonsed to appear in court accused of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash on the A2 near Dartford.

Mark Sharp, from Gravesend, was killed in March this year when his Nissan Micra collided with a black car on the coastbound stretch of the A2 near Dartford Heath.

The 46-year-old HGV driver was pronounced dead at the scene in the early hours of the morning on March 1.

Following investigation a 28-year-old man from Plumstead was summonsed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drugs.

A second man, aged 59 from Welling, was summonsed to appear before magistrates on the same date to face a charge of dangerous driving.

Both men will appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on October 4.

Mr Sharp worked for TGM Environmental Group in Charlton and friends paid tribute to him as a "lovely person".

In a statement, Mr Sharp's family said: "Mark was sadly taken from his family in the most tragic circumstances imaginable.

"Mark, a 46 year old HGV driver, was born in Dulwich and lived in Gravesend with his beloved wife.

"The son, brother, husband, and uncle will be remembered fondly as a gentleman with a happy, caring and generous manner to his loving family and friends.

"The keen cook, gardener and classic car enthusiast will be sorely missed."
