A woman has died after being hit by a train at Penge East station.

All lines were blocked after the woman was struck this morning.

The line has now reopened between London Victoria and Beckenham Junction but delays are expected until 1.30pm.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "We were called at 10.55am and a woman has sadly been declared deceased.

"The incident is not believed to be suspicious at this time and we are working to identify the person and inform their next of kin."

Emile Facey said on Facebook: "If you're on your way to Penge East station you might want to look at alternative routes as there's been some sort of incident there.

"I was just walking past and there were a lot of shocked looking people around, some of them calling the police, who were just arriving on the scene as I left."
