A confused pooch caused a commotion after becoming stuck in sinking mud at Greenhithe.
Concerned bystanders called 999 after the pup was spotted struggling around 50 metres from the river bank near High Street about 10.20pm last night (May 23).
Fire crews from Dartford and a specialist water rescue team from Larkfield worked to save the dog.
Crews wearing dry suits and life jackets used rescue gear and a mud path - a portable rescue platform - to reach the stricken animal and bring it to safety.
