An ambulance caught fire on the M25.

The fire started on the clockwise carriageway between junction 2 for the A2 Darenth Interchange and junction 3 for the M20 Swanley Interchange just before 6.30pm on Friday.

Two fire crews were called and had the blaze under control just after 8.30pm.

Two of four lanes were closed causing long delays.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance (Secamb) said there were no patients in the ambulance at the time.

He added: "The crew were unhurt and recovery was arranged."
