A Bromley pre-school is celebrating after being rated outstanding for the second time in a row.

St Luke’s, in Raglan Road, was given the highest ranking by the government body.

Last inspected five years ago, the school continued with its unbroken streak of an outstanding record.

With 53 children aged two to four-years-old on the roll, the report found the pre-school to be outstanding in all four areas it was examined it.

Managed by Sheila Marshall, the effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and the outcomes for children achieved the highest rating.

The report stated: “The manager is extremely passionate and reflects on her practice with staff to make adjustments to maintain the highest levels of teaching for children at all times.

“Children are extremely well motivated and enthusiastic learners. Children excitedly explore resources in the very well-equipped environments; they confidently investigate, which supports their curiosity effectively.”

But it also identified the use of technology as an area for improvement.

MORE TOP STORIES The report advised to improve staff should: “Help children explore the use of information and communication technology to extend their awareness of how to use it for different purposes.”

Ms Marshall, who has run the school for more than three decades, was over the moon with the results. 

She told News Shopper: “My staff and I are absolutely delighted that St Luke's pre-school has been awarded an outstanding judgement for a second time since 2011.

“We have an ethos, which is ‘every child matters’. He or she is entitled to the best start in the early years with care and consideration in all aspects."

“We pride ourselves in playing an important part of belonging to the Chatterton Village community.

“So many children's children have attended the pre-school since opening its doors in 1978, which I have continually run and managed.”
