A man has died after being hit by a train at Elverson Road station, bringing the DLR service between Canary Wharf and Lewisham to a halt.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9.50am this morning, February 22.

Trains between Canary Wharf and Lewisham have now resumed, after services were halted for most of the morning.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious.

He said: "We were called to Elverson Road Docklands Light Railway station at 9.50am on Monday, February 22 following a report of a person being struck by a train.

"Officers are now working to identify him and inform his family.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."

Met Police officers, firefighters and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended.
