A burst water pipe has flooded a road in Sydenham.

Kent House Road is under water at the junction with Lennard Road after the main burst at around 9.30am today (January 20).

Video footage has emerged on Twitter of water gushing out of the pipe onto the highway, as motorists drive through the flood.

The burst pipe is not affecting the water supply to the surrounding houses.

A Thames Water spokesman said: “An engineer is investigating the burst pipe and we’ll do all we can to stop the flow of water from it as quickly as possible.”

Rob Paddock, who posted the video of the leak on Twitter, wrote: “@ThamesWater, I think you have a leak Kent House Road and Lennard Road in Sydenham.

"Looks pretty bad, the pavement's lifted."
