A driver was arrested and a 13-year-old boy injured after a car swerved off the road and overturned, landing on the pavement in Bromley.

The black car flipped onto its roof when it crashed in Westmoreland Road at the junction with Woodlea Drive at around 7.50am on Saturday (January 16).

The teenage boy, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to a south London hospital by London Ambulance Service paramedics but has since been discharged.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested for driving offences and taken to a south London police station.

He was bailed to return in mid-March pending further enquiries.

Twitter user Becky Hunt posted a picture from the scene of the crash, which shows the black car upside down on its crumpled roof, next to a metal post, surrounded by orange cones.

A Met Police spokesman said: “A black car was seen to swerve off the road.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
