An Abbey Wood grandmother was amazed when she spotted a “perfect” heart-shaped birthmark on her newborn grandson’s leg.
Lesley Johnson, of Bostall Hill, noticed the unusual birthmark shortly after 8lbs 7oz baby Liam was born at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich at 6.55am on Thursday (November 19).
He is the second child of 33-year-old Candice Johnson, of Clive Road, Belvedere - a younger brother for her six-year-old son David.
Describing the birthmark on baby Liam’s right leg, central records manager Mrs Johnson, 52, told News Shopper: “It’s perfect.
“It’s a gorgeous little heart shape, almost like it’s been shaded deliberately.
“It’s really dinky and cute.

“It will definitely be a talking point when he is 16 and 17 and trying to chat one of the girls up.”
Baby Liam, who was born after a short labour, is the first son of proud father and Ms Johnson’s partner Neil Bailey.

“Candice did a marvellous job,” Mrs Johnson added.
“We are very happy. I can’t stop smiling.
“When Neil’s mum was holding him - that was when I saw the mark.”

Mrs Johnson shared photos of the newborn with friends and family, who were astonished by the unique heart shape on his skin.
She said: “As soon as anyone looks at it, they say, ‘Oh my god, it’s a heart.’
“A few people have joked and said we’ve drawn it on.
“I’ve always said I’d never have a tattoo but if I ever had one now, I would have a heart on my leg where his is.”
