Bromley town centre is partially shut after a lorry caught fire. 

The vehicle, described by witnesses as a ‘shredding van’ ignited along Bromley High Street earlier this morning (November 16).

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to the scene just before 9.30am.

They sent one fire engine and managed to get the blaze under control before 10am.

Commuters reported a strong smell of burning by shopping centre intu. 

bystander Jazmine rothwell told News Shopper: "Was on way to college saw truck near TK Maxx in Bromley.

"Caught alight with loads of papers in the back of the truck with the doors open, looked around to see what the smell was then all of a sudden thick grey smoke was coming out.

"Fire trucks ended up coming and all roads shut off."

The fire is thought to have been near Ringers Road, and Bromley High Street is reportedly blocked at both ends.

Buses are currently on diversion.

No one is thought to have been injured.
