A Gravesend shoplifter who was abusive and threatened two men has been jailed for four months.

On October 16, St Patrick's Gardens resident Sean McGarrigle stole meat worth an unknown amount from a supermarket in Whinfell Way.

During the theft, he also used abusive and threatening words and behaviour - which caused two men to fear violence.

The 42-year-old was sentenced to 120 days in prison, at Medway Magistrates Court on Friday (November 6).

He pleaded guilty to the charges. McGarrigle must also pay a £150 criminal courts charge and an £80 victim surcharge.

Meanwhile, a woman from Gravesend was jailed for shoplifting, also at Medway Magistrates on Friday.

Gemma Kaye Gurr got two months behind bars - after pleading guilty to stealing meat from a shop in Whinfell Way.

A third man was slapped with a suspended prison sentence - after stealing gin from a Longfield supermarket in Station Road.

Terrance William Frank Tebbutt was sentenced to four months in prison suspended for 18 months last Monday (November 2) at Mid Kent Magistrates Court.

The 45-year-old, from Sheerness, must also pay £100 compensation - the cost of the booze.
