Upmarket Venetian restaurant Polpo could be coming to Lewisham, as Blackheath based founder Russell Norman looks to expand.

Rumours have been flying over whether the increasingly popular eatery, which has restaurants in Soho, Chelsea and Notting Hill, could make its way to Lewisham's shopping centre.

Although nothing has been confirmed a spokeswoman for Polpo said: "Lewisham is a potential future area for us that we are looking at."

The restaurants, which first opened in Covent Garden in 2009, specialise in traditional Venetian small plates and fine wines.

Mr Norman is also a founding member of food start-up London Union which is behind the popular night time street feast Model Market on Lewisham's high street.
