A trespasser on the tracks at Forest Hill caused delays on Southern and the Overground this afternoon.
There was no Overground service from New Cross Gate to West Croydon or Crystal Palace.
And Southern rail services from New Cross Gate to Sydenham have also been affected.
Southern later said the trespasser had been moved by police.
Passenger Liz Eddy tweeted: "Trespasser on track at Forest Hill. Police can't get her to move, helicopter over head. Trapped on the train."
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called shortly after 1.30pm to reports of a woman on the line in the Forest Hill area.
“Colleagues from Metropolitan Police Service also attended and a search of the line was carried out.
“A 52-year-old woman was located trackside close to Honor Oak Park station shortly before 4pm.
“She was escorted from the line and taken to a place of safety.”
