POLICE teams will sit in the heart of the community with the opening of a new office.
Lewisham police's acting borough commander Superintendent Richard Martin will officially open the new Lewisham Way Safer Neighbourhood Team office at 11am on April 17.
The office, situated at 37-39 Lewisham Way, Deptford, will be home to the New Cross and Brockley safer neighbourhood teams, which are made up of police officers and PCSOs.
It has an inquiry desk which will be manned by a volunteer, allowing residents to report crimes and discuss problems.
Opening hours for the office are yet to be confirmed.
A police spokesman said: "This office will make the police visible in the community and keep them in touch with local issues."
