A dad from Gravesend, who won £300,000 on a scratchcard, almost threw away his winning ticket.

Hospital porter and part-time delivery driver Stefan Krok was playing whilst working on a Saturday night when he released he had won the top prize with a National Lottery Bingo Blue scratchcard.

Initially he thought he hadn't won as the pattern he revealed wasn't in a row, but after triple-checking he realised his luck had come in.

"I nearly binned the scratchcard but thankfully I had another look at the winning patterns and saw mine revealed the £300,000 top prize," said the 30-year-old.

"It was an unbelievable moment, this sort of thing doesn’t happen to me so I didn’t really know how to react."

Stefan has now claimed his prize and is busy making plans for his future.

He said his win will bring security and peace of mind to him and his family.

"I live with my mum at the moment and she will also benefit - both financially but also with a trip to Dubai. I want to spoil her for once," he said.

"I have a five-year old son whose future will be that bit brighter thanks to this win.

"For me, I shall be paying off my car loan and then hitting the local estate agents. Being able to buy my own home was once the stuff of dreams and now I’m actually going to be able to fulfil that dream. It’s awesome."
