Beckenham accountant, Mark Hill, is taking on a double marathon challenge for the British Skin Foundation.

Mark, 34, explains “Having never run a marathon before, I have opted to take on the Brighton and London Marathon double, with just two weeks recovery between the two!”

Mark has chosen to support the British Skin Foundation’s It Takes 7 skin cancer appeal, aiming to raise at least £1,000 from his double challenge.

“I want to run for the BSF due to the work they do around skin cancer, including raising awareness. This is particularly important to me as my mum had suffered with a malignant melanoma in the past and has undergone major surgery,” says Mark.

First up is the vibrant Brighton Marathon on April 12th with the course winding through the city streets, ending on the stunning seafront. Just a fortnight later on April 26th, Mark will be tackling the London Marathon past world-famous landmarks such as Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

The British Skin Foundation is the only UK charity dedicated to raising funds for skin disease and skin cancer research. There are eight million people living with a skin disease in the UK, some are manageable and others are severe enough to kill. Seven people die every day in the UK from skin cancer. It Takes 7 is a fundraising campaign set up to raise as much money as possible to fund research into skin cancer.

Skin disease doesn't just affect the skin. It can have a huge impact on a person’s day-to-day life, crush self-confidence, restrict movement, lead to depression and put a huge strain on families as well as personal relationships. Our unwavering commitment to funding quality research means we won’t stop until we’ve found cures for common skin problems like eczema and acne through to potential killers like malignant melanoma.
