IT HAS been a day of mixed fortunes for the region's top clubs.
Charlton's miserable season continues following a 2-0 loss to top club Manchester United.
In the Championship, Crystal Palace went down to a 2-1 loss to bottom of the table Leeds.
And in League One, Millwall beat Chesterfield 2-1.
At Old Trafford, Charlton found themselves a goal down on 23 minutes when South Korean star Ji-Sung Park put the Red Devils ahead.
Scottish defender Darren Fletcher put the game beyond Charlton on 82 minutes.
At Elland Road, Leeds defender Matt Heath put the Yorkshire club ahead on 27 minutes.
Forward Robbie Blake doubled the score on 72 minutes.
Eleven minutes later Palace defender Leon Cort put the Eagles back in the match but it was too little too late.
At The New Den, striker Darren Byfield scored after 10 minutes - a lead the Lions kept until the 58th minute when Chesterfield striker Paul Hall equalised.
Danish striker Poul Hubertz won the game for the blues with five minutes to go.
