A FERRY watch officer has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of three sailors.
Michael Hubble, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on February 8, charged with three counts of manslaughter due to gross negligence.
The three sailors were on board a yacht, named Ouzo, which left the Isle of Wight for Devon on August 20 last year, but never arrived.
Rupert Saunders, whose parents live in Swanley, was found dead along with his two childhood friends Jason Downer and James Meaby two days later.
Hubble, 61, of Courtlands Avenue, Lee, was in charge of a P&O ferry en-route to Spain at the time the Ouzo was lost.
The case was adjourned to Winchester Crown Court on February 16 and Hubble was released on unconditional bail.
