LUCKY children at a primary school have been taking lessons from a professional artist.
In a bid to broaden the creative curriculum at St Stephen's Catholic Primary School, Ruskin Avenue, Welling, the parents' association bought all 420 children their own watercolour set.
Fine art artist Shiraz Ksaeia was then invited into the school for a week and ran a series of workshops for the pupils, aged from four to 11.
And with help from school art co-ordinator Lucy Urquhart, each class chose a theme for its paintings.
Choices included book characters, a class's pet goldfish and fantasy landscapes.
Once the paintings were complete, they were framed and the school held an art exhibition for everyone, including friends and family, to view.
Some will now be hung in Welling Library and others will be exhibited as part of a young artists' exhibition at Hall Place, Bourne Road, Bexley, in the spring.
