HEALTH officials are taking action to minimise the risk of bird flu spreading to humans.
Bromley Primary Care Trust is working with environmental health officers to offer the seasonal flu vaccine to all poultry workers in the borough.
It is hoped this will reduce the risk of human flu mixing with the H5N1 bird flu virus.
The trust's director of public health Dr Angela Bhan said: "Despite the Suffolk incident of bird flu, the current level of risk to humans from H5N1 remains extremely low.
"Nonetheless, any possibility of exposure is being taken very seriously and all local agencies are remaining vigilant and working together on this."
She added: "We are taking all the necessary actions to protect those people working in the poultry industry who may have been exposed to the virus."
