Bexley Council is considering disposing of 27 parks or open spaces to cut costs.

By selling off around a quarter of the 106 green spots across the borough, the council could save more than £1.6 million over four years.

The council is hoping to use the cash saved to fund the maintenance of the remaining open spaces. Otherwise the maintenance budget will be cut.

The plan has been a consultation in principle and if it comes into force, residents will be consulted on the specific proposals.

However the idea has sparked concern amongst some individuals and conservation groups in Bexley.

What do you think of the plan to dispose of the green spaces?

News Shopper is looking for people who oppose the plan to meet for a photo opportunity at Sunday 10am at Danson Park’s Boathouse in Danson Road, Bexleyheath.
