A TERRITORIAL Army (TA) soldier has been honoured for his service.

Sergeant Daniel Unthank, 32, was presented with a Lord Lieutenant's Certificate.

Sgt Unthank, from Dartford, was among 15 personnel from TA and Army Cadet Force staff from across Kent selected to receive the award.

The certificate states it is "to place on record his high appreciation of the meritorious services rendered" and is signed by the Lord Lieutenant as the Queen's representative.

The father-of-two, who has been in the TA for eight years, said: "I am very proud and honoured to receive the award of the Lord Lieutenant's Certificate.

"It is superb to have your service recognised in this way and it came as a very pleasant surprise."

The certificate was presented to Sgt Unthank by Lord Lieutenant Allen Willett at a ceremony in Canterbury.
