IT WAS all hands to the pump when Gallions Housing Association discovered its new handbook of information for tenants was too heavy to be delivered via the postal system.

Instead 70 staff, including the association's directors, spent their weekend pounding the streets like newspaper boys and girls.

They pushed trolleys loaded with handbooks and delivered them to the majority of the association's properties.

Over the two days they delivered more than 4,900 handbooks.

Gallions owns and manages more than 5,000 homes, most of them in Thamesmead.
