POLICE are warning elderly residents to watch out for bogus callers following two thefts.
North Kent residents should be vigilant when answering the door to anybody claiming to be from a utility company.
The burglaries took place in Dene Holm Road, Northfleet, between 11am and noon on January 31.
A man claiming to be from the water company asked one resident to look at pipes under the sink.
While he distracted the victim, an accomplice entered the property and stole £4,000 from the first house and £9,000 from the second house.
The man who distracted the residents is described as white, about 30, with a stocky build and short, dark hair. He spoke with a northern accent.
Police advise residents to keep their door security chain on and demand identification from callers.
Any witnesses should call north Kent police on 01474 565135.
