NEWS Shopper's Child of the Year 2006 competition is over, and we can now announce the winners.

Tens of thousands of votes were cast at newsshopper.co.uk in January.

Positions were very close until the last few days, but eventually two children emerged as the front runners to be crowned Child of the Year.

In the newborn to 18 months category, it was 15-month-old Ben Pick, from Orpington, who took the top spot.

Champion of the 19 months to five years age group was two-year-old Charlie Whatley, from Dartford.

Each of the two winners will now enjoy a weekend break at Disneyland Paris.

Second place in the newborn to 18 months category went to 17-month-old Lora Stancheva, from Bexleyheath, and Emma Ward, six, from Slade Green, was runner-up in the older category.

These two children win a £100 voucher for Nigel Barrett Photography in Bexleyheath.
