PRESIDENT Michael Dobbs outlined the reasons for the experimental meeting, which was for members to put up displays but without any commentary.

Primarily it was to encourage members who might be nervous about speaking in public or who felt they did not have sufficient material for a full display to participate and show material from their collections.

At the event, 16 members showed up to 30 sheets each.

Members were then able to answer questions on an informal individual basis or comment about the material on display.

It proved to be one of the best meetings in recent times.

The Society meets in the Public Hall, Bromley Road, Beckenham.
