Police in Bexley will be holding a series of surgeries for motorists - handing out free tamper-proof number-plate screws to help prevent motor vehicle crime.
Officers from the Local Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) will be out today (January 22) at garages across the borough handing out the anti-theft screws and giving tips on how to protect their vehicle from thieves.
PC Dan Ellen who organised the events said: "The thieves generally steal the number plates so that they can then use them on other vehicles and go on to commit other crime such as petrol theft, so it has a knock-on effect.
"If we can prevent even just one person from becoming a victim of such a crime, then this event will have been worthwhile.
