AN ELDERLY man set his bedroom alight after he smoked a cigarette in bed.
Two crews from Forest Hill Fire Station were called to Westwood Hill, Forest Hill, at 2.30pm today after the man accidentally set fire to his mattress.
The fire was contained to the bedroom and was under control within minutes, a spokesman said.
The man was taken to Lewisham Hospital suffering from slight smoke inhalation.
