A postman has been attacked whilst delivering a parcel in Dartford.

Kent Police are appealing for information after the postman was knocked unconscious outside flats in Bridges Drive at about 11.45am on January 15.

A parcel containing unknown items was stolen.

Police believe the attacker ran away in the direction of the A282 and may have attempted to hide in the gardens of nearby properties.

Royal Mail’s Dartford Delivery Office Manager Andy Abbott expressed 'concern' over the attack and said that the postman is now recovering at home with his family.

He said: "I and all his colleagues at Dartford delivery office, where he has worked for almost 13 years, wish him all the very best as he continues his recovery.

“We are assisting the police with their investigation and we would urge anyone with any information to contact them as soon as possible.”

Detective Sergeant Paul Fewtrell added: "This was a particularly vicious attack that has left a man in hospital, and we are keen to track down the person responsible.

"Postmen offer a valuable service to the community and should feel free to carry out their role without fear of being attacked.
