The final two members of a prolific drug gang which included a trafficker from Dartford, have been sentenced to prison.

Peter Brown, 42, from Sutton, and Leon Phillips, 46, from Ipswich – were sentenced today to four years and three years and four months respectively for their roles in the conspiracy.

They were part of a 13-strong "criminal empire" led by Joseph Ashman, 46, from Rainham, Essex, which imported 4.5 tonnes of drugs, leading them to be sentenced to a total of 66 years and six months in prison.

Dartford trafficker Clive Brown, 61, was first detained in May 2013 after National Crime Agency investigators, with help from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, intercepted nearly 850kg of cannabis resin and 30kg of amphetamine.

Brown, of Wyatt Road, pled guilty to conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court in October 2013 to six years and nine months in prison.

Brendan Foreman, regional head of investigations at the National Crime Agency, said: "The collaboration between UK law enforcement agencies has resulted in Ashman’s criminal empire being completely dismantled."
