David Tracey lettings director for Humphriss & Ryde

Experience:

More than 16 years' experience, working for small independents and large corporate estate agents. I started work as a trainee negotiator and worked my way up to become a branch lettings manager, then an area manager and group operations manager for a large corporate estate agency.

I have achieved ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents) foundation and advanced competency test passes and currently am the joint regional council member for ARLA for Kent and south east London.

Why estate agency?

To be perfectly honest - I fell upon a job which was being advertised in the local paper. I liked the people I was working with, I enjoyed the interaction with our clients and the public and I immediately loved dealing with property.

What do you like most about your job?

No one day is the same. I enjoy advising landlords about their properties and finding suitable tenants. The job can also be quite technical and I enjoy offering good advice to landlords or tenants. Sometimes the situations which are presented to landlords and tenants can be difficult to deal with and it needs the help and guidance of someone like myself with knowledge and experience to resolve the issue.
