AN OFFICER serving with Bexleyheath police has been arrested as part of the Operation Orr investigation into online child pornography.

The 38-year-old PC, believed to work as a training officer, was arrested by Kent police in Gillingham on January 26.

He was released the following day and bailed to return on February 21.

A police spokesman said the investigation is still in its early stages and the officer concerned is on sick leave.

Operation Orr has targeted 7,200 Britons who paid to access child abuse images on a website based in Texas, USA.

The investigation involves suspects from across the globe.
