Police have arrested a 64-year-old man after he attacked paramedics who were trying to help him - forcing them to lock him inside the ambulance.
Officers were called to Brownhill Road, Catford at 6.20pm yesterday (January 13) by the London Ambulance Service to reports of an incident involving a patient.
One paramedic claimed she had to get out of the ambulance and lock the patient inside while she waited for police to arrive.
After he was arrested, the man also tried to assault a police officer, it is claimed.
A Lewisham police spokesman said: "Paramedics reported that whilst they were attempting to transport a patient to hospital, he has allegedly assaulted them and caused damage to the ambulance.
"Officers attended and the 64-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage. He was also later arrested on suspicion of assault on police.
"He currently remains in police custody at a south London police station."
