A COMMUNITY trust has been praised for regenerating a park and gardens.
Twinkle Park Trust has received an award from the British Urban Regeneration Association (Bura) for redeveloping Twinkle Park and Charlotte Turner Gardens, both in Watergate Street, Deptford.
The Bura Awards for Community Inspired Regeneration 2006 were sponsored by the Department of Communities and Local Government.
Work started in 1994 at Twinkle Park and more than £400,000 was raised to fund its refurbishment and the creation of a wildlife area.
Charlotte Turner Gardens also had new seating installed in May last year.
Twinkle Park Trust member Carol Kenna said: "This commendation is an important accolade and is a testament to the determination of local people."
