A BRAINY student is set to have her essay published in a political magazine after winning a national competition.
Bonnie Jackson won the Enid Lakeman essay prize for 2006, sponsored by the McDougall Trust, which encourages the study of politics.
The 18-year-old from Colfe's School, Horn Park Lane, Lee, beat off stiff competition from nearly 100 A level students across the country to win £150.
Her 3,500 word essay, which was about electoral reform, will be published in Talking Politics magazine in March.
Bonnie, who is studying politics, history and business studies, said: "I am absolutely delighted to win this prize, it is a real honour."
Head of politics at the school, Spencer Drury, said: "Bonnie wrote a complex answer to this difficult essay and I am very proud she won the prize."
The McDougall Trust set up the essay prize in 1995 following the death of Enid Lakeman, a prolific political writer and activist.
