A 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of stabbing a teenager in Thamesmead more than seven months ago has been released without charge.

The youngster, who was 14 at the time, was detained on suspicion of GBH and later bailed after a boy was stabbed in the back and thigh and reportedly beaten with an iron bar in Binsey Walk at around 11.15am on June 28.

Witnesses described the 14-year-old victim being attacked by two black males.

One was believed to be armed with a knife and the other with a metal pole.

The boy was stabbed in his left leg and in the back before taking refuge in a library at the end of the road while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

A police spokesman said officers had carried out extensive enquiries, including CCTV and forensics, but there was not enough evidence to lead to any further arrests or charges.
