Six Blackfen schoolgirls wowed Bexleyheath shoppers with a festive ukulele concert.

The students, who all attend Blackfen School for Girls, were joined by a vocalist as they played a number of Christmas songs and carols, raising £107 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The group of year nine pupils were only formed just over 12 months ago but they had a crowd of shoppers at the Sainsbury’s store within the Broadway Shopping Centre singing along during their 45 minute set.

Students Hannah Hill, Taylor Thomas, Drew Thomas, Hollie Kingsland, Jasmin Howe and Grace Wright were joined by year 10 pupil Georgina Doig, who sang in accompaniment.

Blackfen School for Girls music teacher Louise Bagnall said: "They did so well during their performance on December 13.

"The six girls have been getting better and better and are now really quite accomplished ukulele players.

"To raise more than £107 in such a short time was fantastic and we were really pleased with all the support we received."
