A woman is fighting to save the reputation of her nursery after an Ofsted report stated that her nursery put children's welfare at potential risk
Charlotte Austin has worked in childcare her whole life and realised her life's ambition when she opened the Little Peoples Montessori in Charlton in September
However, all her hard work has been threatened by a negative Ofsted report, stating that children's welfare was put at potential risk at the nursery.
Mrs Austin who began her career at the age of 19 as a regular nursery assistant, has always dedicated her life into putting smiles on children's faces.
She said: "This isn’t just a job for me, this is my life. I don’t run this nursery for me, I run it so that children have a safe place to learn and have fun."
The Ofsted inspection which took place on the November 27, stated that unchecked staff were left unsupervised with children, putting the children's welfare at potential risk
However, Ms Austin said: "The main complaint was just based on speculation, two of my staff have not had their D.B.S checks so if I had left the room it meant that they would have been supervising the children but I didn’t leave the room."
The statement in the report worried Ms Austen who immediately after reading this made sure to clear up any confusion with the parents of the children.
"I emailed parents as soon as the report came out, the response I’ve had has been amazing, everyone has been so supportive, telling me to keep doing what I’m doing.
"I agree with the rest of the report, we were told that everything we were doing was going to be rated good-excellent so I was shocked when I saw the report."
Ofsted have promised Ms Austen that they are investigating her complaint and that she will be notified of the results by January 23.
