A group of rubbish rappers who spent money from selling crack cocaine on videos for their terrible songs now have long jail sentences to add to their criminal records.

The dopey dealers, who called themselves Cash Gwop Money and were linked to the Woolwich Boys gang, sparked police interest after uploading a string of ludicrous videos to YouTube.

Many of the songs, such as Whippin' Up - whose video featured flash cars and models hired for the day using drug money - made direct reference to cooking drugs.

On social media, the gang were blatant about their cartoon gangsta rap lifestyle, posting images of themselves smoking drugs, waving wads of cash around and posing in ridiculous clothes including dealer Hassan Hassan's velour Versace track suit.

Detectives from Greenwich's Violent and Organised Crime Unit (VOCU) tracked the gang to a riverside flat in Southwark and kept them under close observation.

And, following a raid last year, officers found Salah Ali Salah dozing next to a room containing a mound of crack cocaine and 200 wraps of heroin. All in all, police found drugs with a street value of around £100,000 plus a further £2,690 inside the flat.

On December 11 at Woolwich Crown Court, the five gang members were sentenced to a total of 29 years.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Balcombe, in charge of the VOCU, said: "We are really pleased with the results of this investigation.

"We believe that these young men were senior criminal figures who were orchestrating large scale drug dealings across Greenwich. I am confident that we have seriously disrupted their network and made a significant dent in their profits."

And Greenwich Council's cabinet member for community safety Councillor Jackie Smith said: "It's important to show that those who attempt to glorify their illegal drug related activities online do not make themselves into role models to be admired, and in fact will help the police gather additional evidence to be used against them."

Money seized from the gang will go towards Greenwich police's Christmas appeal, raising cash for disadvantaged youngsters.
