I wonder if a reader can tell me anything about this cottage that stood on Mason’s Hill, Bromley long before most of us were born.

A little research tells me it was built in 1561 as Stubberfield Farm and later changed its name to Sparkes Cottage.

I also discovered that in 1541 Elizabeth Mounselowe of West Wickham was indicted for infanticide after throwing her newborn baby on the fire, but that is another story.
