Train company Southeastern has revealed how it is stamping out vandalism at Bexleyheath station.

Only one offence of this type has occurred at the station this year - compared to two incidents last year and four occurrences in 2006 and 2007.

The company is working with the British Transport Police to boost surveillance and cut crime.

A Southeastern spokesman told News Shopper: "We have seen crime and in particular vandalism reduce in the area because we have recently started to work more closely with British Transport Police, deploy more revenue enforcement officers across our network to stamp out anti-social behaviour and install more CCTV at stations.

"All of these measures help to keep our passengers, staff and stations more secure and we’ll continue to invest in these areas over the next four years, under our new franchise period."
