A man has been charged with possessing a firearm after police seized a machine gun from a house in Penge.
Arjuna Pookraj, of Mosslead Road in Penge appeared in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (September 18).
The 18-year-old was arrested after police found a Scorpion sub-machine gun, a silencer and ammunition at the Penge residence at around 9.40pm on Tuesday.
Pookraj was remanded in custody to appear at the Inner London Crown Court on October 2.
He is charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, prohibited ammunition and a silencer.
A 27-year-old man and a 66-year-old man, who were also arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, have been bailed until late October.
Police arrested a fourth man at the Penge address on suspicion of theft and money laundering.
The 27-year-old was bailed until late November.
Officers found £4000 in cash and bank cards at the property.
