CURRY kings were dhansak on the ceiling when their Bromley-based restaurant chain picked up a national accolade in front of korma chameleon David Cameron.
Shampan at the Spinning Wheel in Westerham, near Biggin Hill, was crowned Newcomer of the Year at the British Curry Awards last year.
And this year it made history by being the first restaurant in the event’s history to win the award two years running.
And Shampan’s owner Sufian Miah said: “Winning this award goes to show hard work, passion, desire, devotion, commitment and integrity always pay off in the long run.
“We’d like to say a massive thank you to all of our loyal customers who nominated us for the award.
“It’s a very proud day for everyone involved.”
Prime Minister David Cameron was the guest of honour at the event in Battersea Evolution, Battersea.
A restaurant can be nominated in the best newcomer category for the first three years it is open.
