IS THIS the worst getaway ever? Two bungling teens spotted carrying a gun into a Lewisham bank were arrested after trying to flee on the DLR - yards from Europe's largest police station.
Officers were called out to Lewisham High Street yesterday (December 4) at around 3.45pm after reports that two men entered a bank carrying a firearm.
Armed police tracked the two people down on a train at Lewisham DLR station, which lies across the road from the enormous local police station.
They were arrested and an imitation firearm was recovered from the scene.
A spokeswoman for Lewisham police said: "A 16 and 17-year-old are currently in custody at a south London police station and helping police with their enquiries."
The police operation led to minor delays on the DLR service yesterday afternoon.
