A TERMINALLY ill four-year-old girl’s family are desperately trying to raise £30,000 to help keep her smiling.

Rosie Staunton was a happy, healthy child living in Ducketts Road, Crayford with her mum Laura, dad Ryan and sharing a bunk bed with seven-year-old big sister Leila.

But In March this year, Rosie suffered a brain haemorrhage and in July, a scan revealed a tumour before she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade 4.

According to Cancer Research UK, the outlook is not good for Grade 3 and 4 cases and only about 20 per cent of children diagnosed live for five years.

The inoperable tumour means the only treatment available are courses of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to manage Rosie’s pain over the next few years.

She is now unrecognisable as the little girl who loved wearing pink, skiing and playing on the computer.

Mother Laura said her condition means Rosie needs a lot of medical equipment and a special bed and can no longer share the small room with Leila.

She said: "At the moment, we’ve not got a lot of room.

"Rosie gets up at four in the morning and cries and it upsets her sister.

"Later on down the road, Rosie is going to become quite ill and it would be unfair for her sister to see her that way.

"The quality of life is what will change. For her sister, it’s distressing."

The money raised will go towards a small and compact loft conversion as well as a handrail for the staircase.

Friend of the family and fundraiser Carly Rosbrook said: "Time is not on our side. We need to make this happen soon.

"So please donate the cost of your next drink down the pub, your next latte at Starbucks, the price of a pack of ciggies, whatever you can afford. Rosie needs your help."

Rosie’s family and friends will be taking part in a bungee jump at the O2 on December 15 to raise money for the Brain Research Trust.

Mrs Staunton did a skydive to raise funds for her daughter on November 1. See her video here:
