All the winners and runners up had been voted for by their customers who appreciated their efforts to keep going through the tough economic times and develop products and services for the community.

The awards were organised by Orpington 1st, the business improvement district (BID) organisation working to make Orpington more prosperous.

Interim BID manager Naz Choudhury said: "The awards were not just a celebration of the fine businesses in Orpington but also an appreciation of the work they are doing.

"The word on the street is that Orpington is changing."
