A WOOLWICH pharmacy has opened which aims to help out Gurkhas who have recently moved to the area.

Owners of the Woolwich Late Night Pharmacy in Equitable House say many Gurkhas are retired and have experienced problems with finding a pharmacy that not only understands their requirements but also can speak in their native tongue.

Manager Rajen Kandel said: "This has been an issue for the local PCTs who have welcomed the opening of the new pharmacy which has fully authorised pharmacists who are also fluent in Nepalese.

"This is unique in the area."
