THE family of murdered Penge teenager Kadar Hussein have criticised the police search for his killer, saying the lack of results is "destroying us".

The 19-year-old was shot in the head on May 8 in Kenilworth Road, Penge.

Three months later the police have still made no arrests, despite releasing a picture of their main suspect, Trai Williamson, in early June.

The family claim the police have been slow with their investigation and have been uncommunicative with them.

Mother, Muna Hussein, 46, of Beckenham, told News Shopper: "I do not think the police are putting in enough effort.

"There are supposed to be 20 officers working on the case. What are they doing?

"The police keep telling us the same thing, there has been no progress.

"It is destroying us."

Sister, Madina Hussein, 18, said "What are the police doing? It has been three months and they have come up with nothing.

"Why are they not doing anything? What if he kills someone else?"

The family added it is they who have to contact the police family liaison officer, not the other way round, and when he replies, it is only through text message.

Community leader Yasin Farah, 26, of Bredhurst Close, Penge, said: "This is the family liaison officer and he is sending text messages to the mother who has just lost her son.

"Where is the compassion? They don't seem to care.

"This woman has just lost her 19-year-old son. The police are the last hope for her, the only people she can turn to."

Mr Farah added he believes the investigation was slow off the mark.

He said: "Had they taken action from the time he got shot things might have been different. They already knew the suspects name.

"The first thing they should have done was released the picture.

"It shows there is incompetence at every level. The person they want, he is just a kid, he is not an experienced murderer."

Madina Hussein added: "To whoever is hiding this guy, imagine if you were Kadar's parents. Imagine if it was you this happened to.

"Kadar didn't deserve this."

Muna Hussein said: "It is hard because you can't do anything, you can just wait for the results.

"Kadar was the world to me. He was respected, he was loved.

"He was always calling me up, looking after me.

"All that is gone now. All I have is the memory."

A police spokesperson said: "Officers from the homicide and serious crime command continue to investigate the murder of Kadar Hussein in Penge.

"An appeal for information was issued to the media within 24 hours of the murder and in early June an appeal featuring an image of a named suspect, Trai Williamson, was released.

"A reward of £10,000 was also offered by police for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible for Kadar's murder. This reward has now been increased to £20,000.

"From the outset of the police investigation, a family liaison officer has been assigned to ensure the family of Kadar are kept updated of any developments.

"We share the family's obvious frustration that this murder remains unsolved, but can assure them, and the wider community, that we continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice."

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4868 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

For an immediate sighting of Trai Williamson members of the public are urged not to approach him but to dial 999.
